Jesus' View On Family

There was no room for Joseph, Mary, and Jesus.

You know the Story.

"And she brought forth her firstborn son,

and wrapped him in swaddling clothes,

and laid him in a manger;

because there was no room for them in the inn."

Luke 2:7.

But it was more personal than we may realize.

That word, "inn"...

Means a guest room.

Not public lodging.

Not a hotel or motel.

The public lodging word for "inn" is found elsewhere in Luke's Gospel. (Luke 10:34)

Which means for Jesus...

There was no room at Grandma and Grandpa's.

For Mary...

There was no room at Mom and Dad's.

For Joseph...

At Aunt Rose and Uncle Bob's.

Not even at the sisters' or brothers' place.

Not a guest room was open.

And Mary was nine months pregnant!

You think your (extended) family Christmas was awkward!

Hence, Jesus' perspective of family would be fascinating.

"My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it."

That's how Jesus sorted out His family dysfunction.

Allow Him now to sort out yours! :)
